Lee Clark wants defensive reinforcements

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark admits that he may be forced to commit resources to the loan market to bring in defenders due to a shortage of numbers at the back.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has revealed that he may be forced to turn to the loan market to bring in defenders as he faces shortage of numbers at the back.

Kyle Bartley could be out for a month with a hamstring injury, while loanee Dan Burn returned to his parent club Fulham, leaving the Blues boss short of options.

Clark told the Birmingham Mail: "We're in a little bit of limbo now because of the situation in terms of the centre-halves. I need to look at that area - but it all depends on finances.

"It's a bit of a difficult position. We will just have to see what develops on one or two things."

Birmingham are 17th in the Championship after 24 games this season.
