Birmingham City sign Celtic striker Denny Johnstone

Young Celtic striker Denny Johnstone signs a three-year contract with Championship side Birmingham City.

Birmingham City have completed the signing of Denny Johnstone from Celtic.

The 19-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the Blues, who have agreed an undisclosed compensation package with the Scottish champions for the striker's services.

"The board have backed me because I feel the boy can offer future value to the squad. Denny was highly thought of by Celtic and they wanted to keep him but the boy wanted to move on," Birmingham manager Lee Clark told the club's official website.

"Two unnamed Scottish Premier League clubs also wanted to bring him in as their number one striker, while opponents he faced playing for Celtic in the NextGen Series also expressed an interest off the back of his performances."

Johnstone has been handed the number 16 shirt by the Championship club.
