Thomas Muller has admitted that Bayern Munich should not have opened the door to Borussia Dortmund in their "catastrophic" DFB-Pokal semi-final disappointment on Tuesday.
Bayern dominated for long spells at the Allianz Arena, but Dortmund forced penalties before clinching a 2-0 shootout triumph, and Muller concedes that the failure was difficult for Pep Guardiola's side to accept.
"We lost our structure a little in the last 10 to 15 minutes of normal time," the forward told the official Bundesliga website. "Dortmund had a few good chances, but we shouldn't have been in a position to let them back into the game.
"Ultimately we played well, but at the end of the day lot of things didn't go our way. Arjen got injured. We were denied a clear penalty. Both of our first two penalty takers slipped despite the fact I know they have studs on their boots.
"After that what can you do. The fact we're leaving the pitch as the losers makes me sick. It was a catastrophic evening for us."
Dortmund will meet either Arminia Bielefeld or Wolfsburg in the final.
