Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze ruled out for at least 10 weeks with thigh injury

Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze is ruled out for at least 10 weeks after suffering an adductor injury while on international duty with Germany.

Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze has been ruled out for at least 10 weeks after suffering an adductor injury in his thigh.

The 23-year-old ruptured a tendon while lunging for the ball in Germany's 1-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland in last night's Euro 2016 qualifier in Dublin.

Germany's team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt confirmed the damage after Gotze underwent treatment to discover the extent of the problem.

"It's annoying for us and a real shame for him," Germany coach Joachim Low told reporters. "We wish him a good and speedy recovery. I am sure that he will be able to pick up his form again once he returns."

Gotze has scored two Champions League goals for Bayern so far this season.
