Germany to bench Bastian Schweinsteiger

Reports in Germany claim that Bastian Schweinsteiger could be rested for his nation's next Euro 2012 match against Holland.

Bastian Schweinsteiger will reportedly be dropped to the bench for Germany's next Euro 2012 match against Holland on Wednesday evening.

Following a succession of injuries towards the end of the season, doubts have been raised in the German media as to whether Schweinsteiger would be able to complete two matches in four days.

Having featured during the Germans' 1-0 win over Portugal on Saturday, it is believed that coach Joachim Low is considering replacing the 27-year-old with his Bayern Munich teammate Toni Kroos.

Germany will qualify from Group B if they beat the Dutch and Portugal fail to take maximum points against Denmark earlier in the day.
