Pep Guardiola "very proud" of Bayern Munich players

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola insists that he is "very proud" of his team despite their Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he is "very proud" of his players despite their Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid this evening.

Guardiola's chances of winning the competition with Bayern were ended despite a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena, with Atletico reaching the final on away goals.

However, despite bowing out in the last four to Spanish opposition for a third year on the bounce, Guardiola was happy with his side's efforts over the two legs.

"I am proud of my team. We played very well in Madrid and in the match here," he told reporters.

Bayern can still win the domestic league and cup double in Guardiola's final season before he moves to Manchester City.
