Barcelona boss Xavi has said that it is up to Ousmane Dembele to decide whether he wants to sign a new deal at Camp Nou to remain with the club on a long-term basis.
The France international's current contract is due to expire at the end of June, and he was widely expected to leave the Catalan giants during the January transfer window.
The deadline passed with the attacker still at Barcelona, though, and he has worked his way back into the side in recent weeks, playing a key role in the team's impressive form.
The La Liga giants have now allegedly reopened contract discussions with Dembele, and Xavi has said that a fresh deal for the 24-year-old "depends on him".
"I haven't had a single complaint about Dembele at a professional level since I arrived. He's a footballer of many levels, well worked, I still think he can be the best in his position. It's up to him, the renewal depends on him," Xavi told reporters ahead of Sunday's clash with Sevilla.
Dembele has scored twice and contributed nine assists in 21 appearances for Barcelona this season, including seven assists and one goal in his last six La Liga outings.
