Roma are reportedly preparing a surprise move for Barcelona's Javier Mascherano this summer.
The 31-year-old has been with the Spanish giants since 2010, and is currently contracted to Barca until the summer of 2018.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Roma believe that the Argentine is keen to sample Italian football before he retires and will attempt to launch a bid this summer.
The same report has claimed that Roma are prepared to match Mascherano's current wages at Camp Nou, and will also offer him a spot in the middle of midfield.
Mascherano, who represented Argentina at the Copa America this summer, played a key role in Barca's treble success last term.
