Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that the club's offer to bring in Noussair Mazraoui on a free transfer deal this summer is nearing its completion.
The 24-year-old full-back sees his contract expire with current side Ajax in June, and with no extension agreed with the Eredivisie side, a summer move to Bayern or Barcelona has been heavily discussed.
However, the Moroccan looks to be moving to the Bundesliga champions, with Nagelsmann stating that the potential deal is in its final stages.
Speaking about the free transfer move, the former RB Leipzig boss said to Goal: "With Mazraoui, we are on the home stretch. There are still final details that need to be clarified.
"If it works out, then we have a very good player that we're very happy about. I didn't feel like we had to do a lot of convincing.
"The first conversation was that he was extremely on fire, in terms of form, and that he only wanted to play for Bayern. The thing was bagged relatively quickly. Those are the kind of players and conversations we need, players who have that hunger and push other players."
Mazraoui has been brought through the academy with the Amsterdam side, and has gone on to make 137 appearances for the club across all competitions, helping them to three Eredivisie titles during his stay, including the 2021-22 crown under future Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
