Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are going head to head for the signature of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to a report.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly going head to head for the signature of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong was strongly linked with a move to Barca in last summer's transfer window, having made huge strides forward at Ajax during the 2016-17 campaign.

The Netherlands international ultimately remained in Amsterdam, but his future is again the subject of much speculation having scored four times in 28 appearances for his Dutch club this season.

PSG were believed to lead the race for the 21-year-old, but according to Sport, a personal visit from Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has placed the Spanish champions back in contention.

Ajax reportedly value De Jong at £75m, with his contract due to run until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The midfielder won the first of his five caps with the Netherlands last June.
