Josep Maria Bartomeu "proud" of Barcelona

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is "proud" of the team following their 3-0 triumph over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has expressed his pride in the team following their 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich this evening.

The La Liga leaders kept their treble charge on course courtesy of the victory, putting themselves in a commanding position ahead of next Tuesday's semi-final second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Lionel Messi played a major role in the triumph with two goals and an assist, and Bartomeu reserved special praise for the Argentine talisman.

"Great night of football. Proud of this team and the fans. But we need to be as prudent as we can for the return," he wrote on Twitter.

"Another exhibition from Messi. He's a global footballing treasure and he's ours."

Neymar's late third goal means that the attacking trio of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar have now scored a record-breaking 111 goals between them this season.
