Wolfsburg grind out win against Augsburg

Wolfsburg come from behind to beat Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have come from behind to beat Augsburg 2-1 in the Bundesliga.

The home side took the lead early on through Tobias Werner's left-footed shot from the centre of the penalty area.

Werner was involved again minutes later, but this time his effort from close range was saved.

Wolfsburg's first foray into the opposition's box saw Marcel Schafer go close with a header.

Diego then threatened for the away team but got too much into his shot and saw it fly over the bar. The midfielder had a similar effort just a few minutes later.

However, Wolfsburg equalised with 10 minutes left of the first half when Maximilian Arnold drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.

Luis Gustavo then edged the away team in front with a header into the top corner.

Ricardo Rodriguez struck a free kick that forced Alex Manninger into a diving save. Manninger was called into action again soon after, this time pushing Diego's shot wide.

Hong Jeong-Ho then had a header saved from Raphael Holzhauser's assist, but the home side were unable to find the chance they needed.
