Rafael Benitez: 'Atletico Madrid success is good for Spain'

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez hails Atletico Madrid's emergence as La Liga title challengers.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has said that Atletico Madrid's emergence as La Liga title challengers is good for the Spanish league.

Two wins from Atletico's final three league games would secure the title for Diego Simeone's side ahead of their trip to Barcelona on the final weekend of the season.

"People are talking about Valencia winning 10 years ago, the double," he told Perform.

"After 10 years to see another team like Atletico Madrid with a great possibility to win the title, I think it's good for the competition.

"Obviously Barcelona and Real Madrid are very strong, but Atletico are doing really well. They have the right mentality, they have the energy to achieve something important this year."

Benitez led Valencia to the La Liga title in 2004.
