Half-Time Report: Atletico Madrid leading Villarreal

Atletico Madrid lead Villarreal after 45 minutes of their La Liga match, thanks to an early own goal from Mario Gaspar.

Atletico Madrid are leading Villarreal 1-0 at the break in their La Liga clash at Estadio El Madrigal.

The visitors got off to the perfect start and were ahead after two minutes when Mario Gaspar turned the ball into his own net.

Villarreal came close to levelling the score when Jonathan Pereira was found in the box by Ruben Garcia, but he could only direct his effort wide of the post.

Gabi came close to scoring a second for Atletico but his long-range effort drifted wide of the post.

At the end of the half, Villarreal managed to work an opening for Gaspar, who headed a cross from Pereira wide as the Madrid outfit held on to retain their one-goal lead.
