Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde has called on his side to bounce back from last weekend's disappointment when they face Basque rivals Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Bilbao were beaten 1-0 at home to Cordoba last time out in the league, but Valverde believes that the clash with Sociedad is the perfect chance to return to winning ways.

"The game last week was a blow because of the result and our inability to create chances," he told reporters.

"We're pretty angry with ourselves for not doing everything to win. Now we're in no man's land, but we want to be higher up the table and therefore I urge the team to [beat Real Sociedad].

"There is no better time to bounce to back than in a derby. It's a game that we all love, with a special incentive for both sets of fans."

Bilbao currently sit 10th in the La Liga table.
