Ron Vlaar says that an apology from Aston Villa over their behaviour during transfer negotiations helped push the deal through.

Feyenoord's Ron Vlaar has said that Aston Villa have apologised for their recent behaviour during transfer negotiations as a deal nears completion.

The Dutch international defender has reportedly agreed a three-year contract at Villa Park and admitted that moving to the Premier League will be a dream.

Vlaar told his club's official website: "It's a strange feeling to leave Feyenoord but it was a dream for me to move on to the Premier League.

"Today we started talks again and some points have been spoken about. It was a tough conversation, Aston Villa made their apologies for their behaviour during the previous period."

The 27-year-old will complete a £3.2m move to Villa Park this week, subject to a medical.
