Liverpool have targeted a January loan move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, who has scored two goals in nine appearances, has struggled for form since returning from a long injury layoff, while a series of setbacks have blighted his progress this season.
The Reds are believed to be in the market for a goalscorer, as Andy Carroll's loan to West Ham United coupled with Fabio Borini's injury has left Luis Surarez as their only fit first-team forward.
According to the Metro, they will now make a move for the England international, who record for the Villans reads as 13 goals in 31 games.
Bent, who has 13 caps for his country, joined the club from Sunderland for £24m in January 2011.
