Dion Dublin: 'I have no idea how Remi Garde will get on at Aston Villa'

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin is surprised at the managerial appointment of Remi Garde, adding that he has "no idea" how he will fare at the club's helm.

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin has expressed surprise at the managerial appointment of Remi Garde, adding that he has "no idea" how he will fare at the club's helm.

The former Lyon boss was appointed as Tim Sherwood's successor on November 2, with the West Midlands outfit losing losing nine of their 11 Premier League games so far.

Dublin, who played for Villa between 1998 and 2004, told BBC Sport: "I'm surprised by the appointment of Remi Garde - he has only a little experience.

"His players now need to step up to the plate and do what they can to get the Villa, a huge football club, back to where they ought to be. But I have no idea how Garde will get on."

Garde managed Lyon between 2011 and 2014, winning a Coupe de France and a Trophee Des Champions along the way.
