Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has urged the club to sell Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan before the European transfer window closes on September 2.
The 30-year-old joined the Gunners from Manchester United as part of the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford in January 2018, subsequently making more than 50 appearances for the North London club.
However, Winterburn has added his voice to those who criticised the former Dortmund man's performance in Arsenal's opening game of the season against Newcastle United last weekend.
Speaking to sportingbet.com, the former Gunners left-back said: "Arsenal should look to sell Mkhitaryan to a European team this transfer window.
"His performance against Newcastle on the opening game of the season wasn't good enough, especially when you're playing at the highest level.
"No doubt, Mkhitaryan is a talented player but he's going to struggle to hold down a regular position when everybody's fit."
The Armenian captain is likely to be involved tomorrow when Arsenal welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium in the day's early kick-off.
