Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed an interest in signing Aleksandr Golovin upon his return to club management, according to agent Sandor Varga.
The 22-year-old, who plays for CSKA Moscow and the Russia national team, was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer but a move failed to materialise.
Golovin, currently on international duty at the World Cup, was also singled out for praise by Wenger after CSKA played the Gunners in the Europa League.
Asked about the possibility of Golovin moving to Chelsea, Varga told Russian outlet Sport Express: "I can say the same about Wenger.
"I asked Arsene about Golovin, the Frenchman said: 'I do not know what Arsenal will do, but I'll take him for myself'.
"Arsene wants to work. While there is no certainty, we negotiated with two clubs, but did not come to an agreement. But if Wenger takes [charge of] any team, Golovin will have another option."
Golovin scored in Russia's 5-0 thumping of Saudi Arabia in the 2018 World Cup opener.
