Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger predicts "most active" January transfer window yet

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger predicts that this month will be one of the "most active" January transfer windows that there has ever been.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has predicted that this month feature one of the "most active" transfer windows that there has ever been in January.

The Gunners, whose £11m acquisition of goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea was their only signing of the summer, are yet to do any business this month.

They are, however, believed to be closing in on the capture of Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

While Wenger has been tight-lipped about his own transfer targets, the French coach believes that a lot of clubs will be dipping into the market.

In Monday's press conference, Wenger told reporters: "I would say for the media you could have some good news - this January transfer window as I believe many clubs will be active.

"You go from the clubs down in the table to the top. My prediction is that it could be one of the most active January windows you have seen."

Arsenal currently have a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
