Basel: 'Arsenal target Mohamed Elneny close to exit'

Basel reveal that supposed Arsenal target Mohamed Elneny is in transfer negotiations with an unnamed club.

Basel have confirmed that Mohamed Elneny has held transfer talks with another club.

In recent days the Egyptian midfielder has been heavily linked with a winter switch to Premier League outfit Arsenal.

While his Swiss employers have not confirmed which side the 23-year-old has spoken with, it is believed that a move to the Emirates Stadium is close to completion.

"Also absent [from training] was Mohamed Elneny, for who there could be a transfer in the coming days," read a statement on Basel's official website.

It has been claimed that the Gunners will pay £5m for the defence-minded player.
