Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up Manchester City midfielder James Milner as a surprise replacement for right-back Bacary Sagna.
The versatile Milner is usually deployed either on the right side of midfield or in a central area, but Wenger sees the England international as the man to fill the void expected to be left by the French player's reported move to Manchester City.
According to The Telegraph, the Gunners are preparing a move for Milner with a view to playing him primarily as a right-sided defender.
A bid of around £10m could be forthcoming from Wenger, who sees Milner's work-rate and versatility as ideal for his plans for next season.
