Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no plans to make a late approach for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no plans to make a late approach for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Antonio Conte's side were understood to have expressed their interest in signing the 23-year-old, with North London rivals Arsenal also monitoring his situation.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Spurs will not make any move to sign Luiz this month, while the Gunners are no longer in the race for his signature.

Tottenham are instead set to finish the January window with two new signings in the form of Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

Aston Villa are believed to have no interest in selling Luiz so late in the window and would only consider a substantial offer to sell him in the summer.

Luiz has featured 94 times for Villa across all competitions, including 17 appearances in the Premier League this season.
