Arsenal reportedly remain on course to get a deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos over the line.
The Gunners are said to be hopeful of making the Greek defender their first signing of the Unai Emery era, despite late competition from rivals Manchester United.
Arsenal initially offered £13m for Sokratis, according to The Telegraph, before returning with an improved £16m bid that should be enough to wrap up the transfer.
Sokratis could arrive in the coming days, making him the third player with Dortmund roots to arrive at the Emirates Stadium since former BVB chief Sven Mislintat joined last year.
The report also suggests that Arsenal intend to bring in at least one more defensive player before the summer market closes for business.
