Manchester City reportedly refuse to pay over the odds for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie and could end their interest in the prolific frontman.

Manchester City are reportedly unwilling to pay more than £15m for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie this summer.

The Premier League champions have been constantly linked with a switch for the prolific frontman, who has yet to make a decision on his future.

While Roberto Mancini is thought to be keen to add the 28-year-old to his title-winning side, it is believed that City are refusing to meet the Gunners' £25m valuation of the player, according to Goal.com.

Reports have claimed that if the blue half of Manchester fail to secure the signature of the Netherlands international, they will turn their attentions to Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani.
