Liverpool, Arsenal 'in Lucas Vazquez battle'

Liverpool and Arsenal will reportedly go head to head to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez.

Liverpool and Arsenal will reportedly go head to head to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez.

The Spanish international, who is currently at the World Cup in Russia, scored four goals and assisted eight others in 33 La Liga appearances last season.

According to Marca, however, Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui does not rate Vazquez on his list of priority players in the Spanish capital, which has alerted the Premier League pair to a potential swoop.

The news outlet says that both Liverpool and Arsenal are keen on adding the midfielder to their squads, although official interest in the 27-year-old is yet to be registered.

Vazquez, who is under contract with his current employers until 2021, has made a total of 124 La Liga appearances.
