Arsene Wenger reiterates that a deal to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal is "not close" to completion, as he talks up his current crop of players.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is "perfectly happy" with his current attacking options, as a proposed move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to drag on.

The Gunners boss lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United this week and is keen to strengthen up top, seeing Aubameyang as the perfect man to fill the attacking void.

Arsenal chiefs have been in talks with their Dortmund counterparts in recent days but, according to reports that emerged in the German press overnight, BVB are playing hardball as they want £60m for the prolific striker.

Speaking to reporters after his side's 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night, Wenger reiterated that a deal is "not close" to being finalised for the Gabon international, and he is content to continue with his current group for the remainder of the season.

"The best [thing] is I don't talk about it. It wouldn't help," he said. "If something happens it happens, if it doesn't we are strong enough to focus on the players we have.

"I'm perfectly happy with the players we have. At the moment, we are open to strengthening the team but we are not close to signing anybody."

Arsenal's club-record fee for an incoming player is the £52.6m handed over to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon last summer.
