Arsenal are reportedly planning to put full focus on the capture of West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans in the closing stages of the January transfer window.
The 30-year-old centre-back has been eyed up by a number of top sides in recent weeks, including league leaders Manchester City, his former side Manchester United and even Leicester City, although the interest has thus far not been followed up with any concrete offers.
The Gunners have already completed the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United and are believed to be on the verge of the club-record capture of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and according to The Mirror, manager Arsene Wenger is also determined to get a deal for Evans over the line.
The Baggies are thought to want around £20m for the Northern Ireland international, who is said to have refused to sign a new deal at The Hawthorns, and Arsenal are prepared to meet that figure.
Wenger is also rumoured to have considered alternative moves for Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Mainz 05 defender Abdou Diallo as he looks to strengthen in central defence for the second half of the campaign.
