Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer an improved bid for Gary Cahill after Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle dismissed their initial approach for the centre-back.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has planned to table a bid of £12m for the defender, which could rise to £15m depending on future honours with the club, according to The Mirror.
Bolton's valuation of the England international is understood to be closer to his £17m release clause.
However, it is now believed that Cahill will join the London club before the end of the transfer window as Wenger looks to bolster his defensive options with an experienced Premier League player.
Cahill joined Bolton from Aston Villa in 2008 and has made 114 Premiership appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
