Arsenal, Madrid 'to wait until summer for Odegaard talks'

A report claims that Arsenal and Real Madrid will hold talks over a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard in the summer.

Arsenal are reportedly happy to wait until the summer to hold talks with Real Madrid over a permanent deal for midfielder Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international has made a big impression since arriving on loan at the Emirates Stadium in the January window.

Mikel Arteta has indicated that he would like to keep hold of the 22-year-old beyond the end of the season, but his loan arrangement does not include a right-to-buy option.

Odegaard still has two years to run on his contract at Madrid and he is not short of other suitors, with Chelsea and Liverpool also rumoured to be a fan of the midfielder.

Despite the growing interest in the Stromsgodset academy product, Goal reports that Arsenal do not feel under any pressure to speed up discussions with Los Blancos.

The same report suggests that the Gunners could turn to Lyon's Nabil Fekir if they miss out on a permanent deal for Odegaard.
