Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to go head to head for the signature of prolific Olympiacos striker Konstantinos Mitroglou in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are still desperate to add forward reinforcements after failing to recruit notable competition for French international Olivier Giroud in the summer.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also keen to improve his squad depth in a bid to ensure that the Anfield club end their four-year Champions League exile by securing a top-four finish this term.
According to the Daily Star, the Premier League duo will battle it out to sign 25-year-old Greek international frontman Mitroglou, who has scored 22 goals for club and country this season.
Mitroglou, who scored three times as Greece overcame Romania in their two-legged World Cup qualifying playoff last month, is reported to be valued at around £7.5m.
