Half-Time Report: Goaless in Naples

Arsenal are closer to securing top spot in Group F following a goalless first half against Napoli.

Arsenal have moved a step closer to top spot in Group F following a goalless first half with Napoli.

The hosts started the game brightly and Goran Pandev tested Wojciech Szczesny with a low effort early on after Dries Mertens had chipped the ball over the visiting defence.

Arsenal posed more of a threat as the first half progressed and they had a good chance to take the lead when Mesut Ozil picked out Olivier Giroud, whose powerful strike was saved by Rafael Cabral.

Arsene Wenger's side kept the ball well in midfield as they looked to make life difficult for Napoli, who went close midway through the first half when Jose Callejon curled a shot over.

Napoli had a great chance to take the lead before the interval when Christian Maggio collected a long ball, but he clipped his effort over under pressure from Szczesny.
