Arsenal reportedly fail with an approach for Sergino Dest, who is desperate to to remain with Barcelona.

Arsenal reportedly failed with a recent move for Barcelona defender Sergino Dest.

The 20-year-old arrived at Camp Nou from Ajax last October and was a regular for the Catalan giants during the 2020-21 campaign, making 41 appearances in all competitions.

There has been speculation surrounding the United States international this summer, with a number of clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Monaco, said to be showing an interest.

According to Sport, Arsenal recently made an approach for the right-back and had been hopeful of tempting him to move to the Emirates Stadium during this summer's transfer window with the offer of a lucrative contract.

However, the report claims that Dest rejected the interest from the Gunners, as he is 'focused' on remaining with Barcelona despite their financial problems.

The defender, who scored three times for Ronald Koeman's side last term, penned a five-year contract with the Catalan giants upon his arrival from the Netherlands.
