Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has refused to confirm his interest in signing Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.
Reports in Italy this week suggested that the Serie A champions could announce an agreement for the soon-to-be free agent by the end of the weekend.
Ramsey is said to have been given permission by Arsenal to fly out to Italy after Saturday's match with West Ham United to finalise a switch, which will go through at the end of the campaign.
Speaking for the first time since that fresh speculation emerged, however, Allegri appeared to raise doubts over whether a move for Ramsey is as far down the line as expected.
"I can already rely on five top midfielders. They are so good that I need nobody," he told reporters ahead of his side's trip to Bologna. "Tomorrow we must maintain our focus or we'd have lost a target".
The likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with Ramsey this month.
