Sports Mole's Premier League Team of the Week

Who said the Premier League was boring? Just when it looked like things were getting a touch on the dull side, England's top flight delivered yet again with a thrilling round of matches.

Manchester City topped the lot with a 4-1 demolition of local rivals Manchester United, while Arsenal went to the summit of the table thanks to a 3-1 win over Stoke City.

Tottenham Hotspur left it late to beat Cardiff City, and there were also big victories for Chelsea, Everton, Hull City, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the 11 players who lit up the weekend.

Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)
The American goalkeeper was called into action plenty of times against Norwich and rose to the occasion consistently as Villa picked up an important win at Carrow Road.

Leighton Baines (Everton)
What is there left to say about Baines? The Everton full-back scored two sensational free kicks against West Ham United to help his side secure a thrilling 3-2 victory at Upton Park.
Vincent Kompany (Manchester City)
Amid the electric atmosphere of a Manchester derby, Kompany led brilliantly from the back as City hammered local rivals Manchester United 4-1.
Ciaran Clark (Aston Villa)
The young centre-back showed plenty of courage and maturity against a busy Norwich attack during Villa's narrow win at Carrow Road.
Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)
Clyne gave an assured performance at Anfield, stifling Liverpool's forward line to see Southampton earn a memorable victory on Merseyside.

Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Three goals for Arsenal against Stoke City, three assists for Ozil. The quicksilver German has taken to the Premier League like a beer lover at Oktoberfest.
Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
The Ivorian drove his teammates on from midfield during City's emphatic derby triumph over Manchester United. This was vintage Toure: covering every blade of grass with breathtaking commitment.
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
This season just gets better and better for Ramsey thanks to his seventh goal in eight games as Arsenal saw off Stoke City.
Jesus Navas (Manchester City)
It was an irresistible display from Navas during the Manchester derby, terrorising a hapless Manchester United defence to set up one of City's goals in their 4-1 rout of the champions.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
The bullish striker ran rings around Manchester United and scored two impressive goals during City's eye-catching victory.
Romelu Lukaku (Everton) (Manchester United)
Lukaku was all strength and pace against West Ham and was rewarded for his efforts with a late winner at Upton Park.

Numpty of the week

Paolo Di Canio: The Italian added another page to his book of bizarre gestures when he approached the Sunderland fans following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. Who knows if it was an effort to appease the anger of the Black Cats supporters after a poor start to the season, but 24 hours later he was sacked.

Goal of the week

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) vs. Manchester United: The Argentine got City going in the derby with a goal more about technique and finesse than bombast. Aguero was able to get in front of his marker before flicking Aleksandar Kolarov's cross into the net with a sublime deft touch.
