Arsene Wenger tips Southampton for Champions League spot

Arsene Wenger believes that Southampton can challenge for a Champions League place this season if they continue their good run.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Southampton can challenge for a Champions League place this season if they continue their good form.

The Saints are currently second in the Premier League ahead of facing Wenger's side at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Wenger believes that Ronald Koeman has done an impressive job during his short stint with the South Coast club.

"Southampton are stable at the back and new signings have integrated well," the Gunners boss told BBC Sport. "If they can maintain run, they can challenge for Champions League places.

"But it's a big game and an opportunity to show consistency in our results."

Southampton ran out 2-1 winners at the Emirates when the sides last met in the League Cup back in September.
