Arsene Wenger has claimed that Arsenal will be "quiet" in the transfer window this month but may sign a defender on a loan basis.
The Gunners have had a number of injury woes in the defensive area, with full-backs Andre Santos, Kieran Gibbs, Bacary Sagna and Thomas Vermaelen all suffering stints on the sidelines,
"At the moment nothing, we don't have a concrete case but we don't rule it out," Wenger told the club's official website. "[A loan defender is] the likely scenario, yes.
"[I am expecting a] quiet [market]. Europe is depressed and there is not a lot of money available, only some clubs who have exceptional resources. Let's say that clubs who are not linked with the economic environment at the moment can buy."
Meanwhile, the North London side may have imminent loan signing Thierry Henry available for the Gunners' FA Cup clash against Leeds United.
