Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he 'feels sorry' for Roberto Di Matteo following the Italian's sacking from Chelsea.

Di Matteo was dismissed from his job at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday morning, despite leading the club to the Champions League and FA Cup six months earlier.

"I think it's very sad," Wenger told Sky Sports News. "I know how much every manager puts into his work. I feel sorry for him."

Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was confirmed as the new manager of Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
