Arsenal Wenger bans handshakes after virus

Arsenal ban handshakes within the club after a virus threatened to disrupt their plans ahead of their match with West Ham United on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club have banned players from shaking hands within the club after several players were hit by a virus.

Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker and Theo Walcott have all been affected during the week and Wenger has revealed that the hygiene levels around the training ground have been improved.

Wenger told The Mirror: "We have improved the level of hygiene around the club. We clean everything.

"It is funny, but shaking hands is one of the biggest things to spread a virus."

Arsenal travel to West Ham United on Saturday evening.
