Arsene Wenger backs Arsenal players to see through title push

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists that his "ambitious" side have what it takes to maintain their title fight across the remainder of the season.

Arsene Wenger has declared that his Arsenal players have the hunger and ambition required to see their Premier League title challenge all the way through.

The Gunners maintained their impressive top-flight run by easing past Swansea City 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A fifth league win on the bounce ensures that Arsenal remain locked on points with Manchester City at the top of the table, and Wenger is confident that his side will remain at the summit throughout the campaign.

"We are very ambitious, very hungry as well and if we play like that we will be in the [title] fight," he told reporters following the win in South Wales.

"In the first half it was difficult, but in the second half we upped our purpose and tempo and had pace in our combinations. Once we scored the first goal we were the dominant team and won the game normally."

Arsenal last lifted the Premier League title in 2004, but have finished inside the top two just once in the decade since that triumph.
