Cesc Fabregas believes that Arsenal will struggle to challenge for trophies in the near future due to the lack of depth in their squad.
The 24-year-old former Gunners skipper, who signed for Barcelona in the summer, has revealed that the main reason for joining the Spanish giants was the chance to win back to back trophies.
"I needed a change in my life, that's the truth,” Fabregas told Sport magazine. “We weren't winning any titles and it was very frustrating for me. I didn't feel like I was developing anymore as I should do.
"I want to be in a club that is able to win the big titles year after year and I don't see that kind of future for Arsenal.”
The Spaniard believes that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger doesn’t have enough resources to compete against a host of English clubs around him.
“I still have many feelings for Arsenal but I fear that they won't be able to push the other big clubs in England away,” he added.
“If you look at the team this season I can't see them finishing in front of teams like Manchester United or City, or Chelsea. There's just too big a difference between the squads.”
Fabregas has already won the UEFA Super Cup and Supercopa de Espana with the Champions League winners, despite only signing for them last month.
