Arsenal: 'Too early to assess Mesut Ozil injury'

Arsenal claim that it is "too early" to assess Mesut Ozil's knee injury.

Arsenal have insisted that it is "too early" to say how long Mesut Ozil will be out of action for with a knee injury.

The German Football Federation claimed on Wednesday that the midfielder was likely to be sidelined for around three months after being sent home from international duty.

However, the Gunners have suggested that the world champions have been hasty with their assessment of the problem.

"Ozil complained of a sore left knee after [Sunday's defeat to Chelsea] and the club advised the German FA to run medical checks when he joined up with his international squad," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The club will make further assessments and it is too early to say how long Ozil may be out of action."

Arsenal continue their Premier League campaign on October 18 when they welcome Hull City to the Emirates Stadium.
