Olivier Giroud optimistic over Bayern Munich scalp

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes that the Gunners can overturn their two-goal deficit and knock Bayern Munich out of the Champions League tonight.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes that the Gunners can overturn their two-goal deficit and knock Bayern Munich out of the Champions League tonight.

Arsene Wenger's troops face an uphill task in their bid to progress to the quarter-final stage after the Bavarians recorded a 2-0 first-leg victory at the Emirates Stadium last month.

The North Londoners demolished Everton 4-1 at the weekend, and Giroud feels that the team can draw on that victory to inspire them to defy the odds at the Allianz Arena later today.

"Hopefully we can keep a clean sheet first because we need to keep our goal clean and maybe if we score early, why not?" he told the club's official website.

"We have a good chance if we believe in our quality, and if we put the same commitment in [as against Everton on Saturday] and the same determination I think we have a good chance.

"Bayern are a really good team so it will be a tough game, but I think we have a chance to go through."

Tonight's encounter is scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
