AC Milan return to winning ways in Serie A

Second-half goals from Sulley Muntari and Keisuke Honda give AC Milan a 2-0 win over AC Chievo Verona at the San Siro.

AC Milan have extended their incredible run of victories against AC Chievo Verona courtesy of a 2-0 win at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri, who have now won 15 of the last 16 meetings between the pair, required two second-half goals to see off their resolute opponents this evening.

A well-placed pass from Fernando Torres allowed Giacomo Bonaventura to get away the game's first shot of note, although his effort failed to find the target on the 18-minute mark.

Jeremy Menez was the next visiting player to try his luck, firing away from a rebound after finding some space inside the box, yet Francesco Bardi was equal to the effort with a fine reflex save.

Milan continued to add pressure with Keisuke Honda seeing his effort fly narrowly wide of the post, while Torres was involved once more shortly before the interval, failing to make the breakthrough from close range after reacting quickest to a rebound.

The hosts looked to up the ante in search of an opening goal after the restart, and if not for Bardi's stop then Menez would have found one, seeing his shot at the end of a solo run well kept out.

Filippo Inzaghi's charges did manage to break the deadlock after 55 minutes, however, with Sulley Muntari firing home from the edge of the box.

Another mazy run from Menez once more forced Bardi into action, although the result was put beyond doubt 10 minutes from time when Honda beat the Gialloblu stopper with a perfectly-placed free kick.

Milan move up to fourth with the win, while Verona drop one place to 15th.
