Feyenoord defender Ron Vlaar reveals that his transfer to Aston Villa has fallen through.

Ron Vlaar has revealed that his proposed transfer to Premier League side Aston Villa is "off".

The Dutch international appeared to be heading for Villa Park following a series of talks with manager Paul Lambert last week.

However, the 27-year-old has now confirmed that he expects to continue his career with Feyenoord.

"Feyenoord is in my heart and I have been through a lot here," Vlaar told RTV Rijnmond. "I think the chance I will move to Aston Villa is not so big anymore.

"I don't want to be kept on a leash, so a transfer is off for now."

Vlaar joined Feyenoord in 2006 from AZ.
