Chris Mears aims to 'do his best' at World Championships following injury woes

British diver Chris Mears says that he just wants to 'do his best' at the World Championships this month following back problems.

Great Britain's Chris Mears has claimed that he just wants to 'do his best' at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia after his preparations were hampered by injuries.

The 22-year-old diver suffered back issues in May, but he managed to claim a silver medal in the 3m synchronised final with partner Jack Laugher.

"It has definitely been an up and down year for me," swimming.org quotes Mears as saying. "It has been quite difficult as I have not been too stable performance wise because of injury. I have injured my back and have also had a few other bits and pieces.

"I haven't had the best preparation for the World Championships but it is fine now and you can't ask for everything so we will do our best and see what happens."

The Worlds get underway on Saturday.
