Tom Daley: 'London leg of World Series is key part of diving calendar'

Tom Daley believes that the London leg of the World Diving Series is a "good marker" to assess his progress with the new 'Firework' dive.

Tom Daley has said that he will get a good sense of his progress when the London leg of the FINA Diving World Series rolls around in May.

The 20-year-old is expected to perform his new 'Firework' dive, which the Brit added to his repertoire in January after scrapping his "terrifying" twister dive.

The 'Firework', which involves 3.5 somersaults and a twist, was debuted by Daley at the British Gas Diving Championships in February, where he won the 10m platform title.

"London is one of the key parts of the diving calendar this year because it's the middle part of the World Series," Daley told the Daily Mail.

"So it's a really good marker to see how the new dive's going and how all of that is piecing together and it's exactly the halfway mark competition wise so I'm really looking forward to it."

London will host the World Series event from May 1 to 3.
