GB diver Tom Daley replaces "demon dive" with "risky" new routine

Tom Daley reveals that he has scrapped his "demon dive" to learn a new routine that he will debut at the British National Championships next month.

Great Britain's Tom Daley has revealed that he has come up with a new routine to replace his "demon dive".

The 20-year-old will debut a "firework dive", consisting of 3.5 somersaults with one twist, in the 10m platform at the British National Championships in Plymouth next month.

Back in August during the Commonwealth Games, Daley told Sports Mole that he would consider scrapping the twist dive that left him seeking therapy.

"Changing is a risky decision, but you have to take risks if you want to win Olympic medals," Daley told BBC Sport.

"Lots of people who have seen the dive have told me it's like a little firework because you don't expect it. It just happens at the end - a massive twist. So hopefully instead of the demon dive I'll have a firework dive instead."

Daley clinched an Olympic bronze medal at London 2012.
