Ricky Evans through to round two on debut

World Darts Championships debutant Ricky Evans knocks out 19th seed Ronnie Baxter in straight sets to progress to the second round of the competition.

Ricky Evans produced a shock win over 19th seed Ronnie Baxter to seal his place in the second round of the World Darts Championship this evening.

Evans began the match in style, producing a 180 on his way to winning the opening leg before a 12-dart finish continued the fine start as he took the first set 3-0.

He won the next 3-1 as Baxter missed five darts at the double to allow the 23-year-old to take command of the set in the third leg before going onto to win it on his own throw.

The 2013 World Youth Championship finalist then clinched the victory on his first appearance in the competition, throwing his fourth 180 on his way to taking the third set 3-2.
